RDS installation and activation guide

 To enable Remote Desktop connections for your server infrastructure, you must:

  1. install, activate and update Windows Server;
  2. configure and activate a license server;
  3. install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses (RDS CALs).

This guide will help you install and activate your license server and RDS CALs in no time.

How to enable Remote Desktop Services?

How to activate Remote Desktop License Server? 

The license server is activated by using the Activate Server Wizard in the Remote Desktop Licensing Manager tool.

When your License Server is activated, it is assigned a unique License Server ID. This ID is required to generate a product key for your RDS CAL. 

How to install RDS CALs?

IMPORTANT: In order to receive an RDS CAL product key for step number 3, you need to contact your RDS CAL supplier and provide your License Server ID to them. 

After the RDS CAL installation is complete, you can make use of your Remote Desktop Services.
