32-bit or 64-bit? Learn how to determine the architecture of your computer

Firstly, it is important to say, that most of today's computer processors are based on the 64-bit architecture and even though sometimes it isn't an optimal 100% match, they are also backward compatible with 32-bit programs and applications. So if you have a newer laptop or computer, it is highly probable that it runs on a 64-bit processor.

If you have a computer with Windows operating system:

1. Click the Start icon in the bottom left corner of your screen and type "Control panel". Once the result will show, you will see "System" in the right column – clicking it will open a window with your computer's system information.
2. Look for the System type in the System section.

If you have a computer with macOS:

1. Go to the Apple Menu and select "About this Mac". 
2. Look below the operating system version and computer model name – you will see your processor name. If the name says Intel Core Solo or Intel Core Duo, it's 32-bit only. Otherwise, the architecture of your computer is 64-bit.
